He also had 703 assists in 1,363 regular-season games with the Chicago Blackhawks, Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks. Roenick scored 53 goals and 69 assists in 154 games with the Blackhawks, Coyotes, Flyers and Sharks in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Sharks have scheduled a news conference for Thursday and said the veteran center will make an announcement regarding his hockey future. Analysis: Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, the Sharks' television broadcaster, said Roenick planned to retire, and he all but announced his intention to retire last spring when his second season in San Jose ended with the Sharks' first-round ouster from the playoffs. Roenick is the third-leading American-born scorer in hockey history with 1,216 points, and scored 513 goals with Chicago, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and the Sharks over his 20 seasons.
